Solo Piano Music of Elodie Lauten Performed by Composer on May 26

Composer/keyboardist Elodie Lauten will present a program of her solo piano music on Wednesday, May 26 – 6:30 PM at the Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue at 10th Street in Manhattan. This performance will be part of Lower East Side Festival of the Arts Exhibition opening. The exhibition will remain up through June 30th, 2010. The collective was curated by Carolyn Ratcliffe and features 30 artists in different media. Ms. Lauten is also participating in this show with an electronic display of digital images.
Lauten’s performance will feature selections from the recently released Elodie Lauten Piano Works, a 2 CD retrospective of some of her finest piano music on the Unseen Worlds label - http://www.unseenworlds.net/, as well as some of her international tangos.

Elodie Lauten (http://www.elodielauten.net) is a composer/keyboardist/producer who has been described as a pioneer of post-minimalism, and a force on the new music scene. More than two dozen recordings of her music have been released on 10 labels. Lauten has received several major awards and performances at many venues in New York and Paris, including the Lincoln Center Festival, the New York City Opera, the Whitney Museum, The Kitchen, the World Music Institute, the SEM Ensemble and the Paris Museum of Modern Art.
