Spring Concert of Chamber Orchestra of New York on May 22

The Chamber Orchestra of New York, Salvatore Di Vittorio, Music Director will present its Spring 2010 concert, Italian Heartstrings, on Saturday, May 22 – 8:00 PM at Church of St. Jean Baptiste, Lexington Avenue at 76th Street in Manhattan.

The strings of CONY will perform the U.S. Premieres of Respighi’s Aria for Strings and Suite for Strings, the latter transcribed/revised by Salvatore DiVittorio. They will also present Scarlatti’s Il Giardino di Rose (The Garden of Roses), Mr. Di Vittorio’s Preludio & Fantasia from Sinfonia No.1 and Puccini’s Crisantemi.

The Chamber Orchestra of New York, established in honor of Ottorino Respighi, is dedicated to presenting the great orchestral repertoire alongside undiscovered or rarely performed gems which complement and extend the classical tradition, from early Italian legends to contemporary American masters. Serving the global community from the international city of New York, the Chamber Orchestra consists of young professionals and provides a venue for artistic and cultural exchange. The Chamber Orchestra of New York, a not-for-profit organization, is a professional orchestra founded by conductor Salvatore Di Vittorio, in New York, NY in the year 2006 on the 250th anniversary of the birth of W. A native of Italy, Salvatore Di Vittorio has held conducting positions with the Accademia Musicale Siciliana, Chamber Ensemble of Rome and Florence Symphonietta. He has also conducted the Vancouver Island Symphony, State Symphony Orchestra of Sofia (Bulgaria), Danbury Symphony, Royal College of Music Symphony, and Festival Sinfonietta Umbra di Perugia.
