Canta Libre Chamber Ensemble Presents CD Launch Party

Northport, NY - The critically-acclaimed Canta Libre Chamber Ensemble will host a launch party for their new CD release of music by Francaix, Daniel-Lesur, Ropartz and Ravel on Saturday, May 15 – 5:00 PM in The Great Room of the Long Island Violin Shop, 8 Elm Street, one block south of Main Street, off New York Avenue in Huntington, New York.
The new CD, to be released June 1 on the 4Tay label, includes Jean Francaix’ Quintet No. 1 for flute, harp and string trio, Jean Yves Daniel-Lesur’s Suite Medievale, Joseph Guy Ropartz’ Prelude, Marine and Chansons and Maurice Ravel’s Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte. Performers are flutist and Canta Libre Director Sally Shorrock, violinist Bryony Stroud-Watson, violist Veronica Salas, cellist Bernard Tamosaitis and harpist Karen Lindquist.
The May 15 party will include Canta Libre performing pieces from our the CD, as well as a showcase of their recent live video broadcast on WNYC Public Radio. Complimentary wine & hors d'oeuvres will be served. The CD will be available for sale and generous donations to Canta Libre will be gratefully appreciated.

Canta Libre was founded in 2002 by flutist Sally Shorrock to foster the performance and enjoyment of musical literature specifically written for flute, harp and strings. They have been acclaimed by audiences throughout the Northeast, with regular performances in Connecticut, Westchester and Long Island. They appear at the Music Festival of the Hamptons as well as Bargemusic. Trained at the finest conservatories both here and abroad, many of the musicians have performed and toured internationally with appearances at major festivals, including Aspen, Spoleto and Tanglewood. The Long Island Violin Shop space has been designed to include a special “Great Room” for salon concerts and other musical and cultural presentations.
