Dancing the Night Away at Portland’s Center for Assisted Living

Have you seen the insurance agency “responsibility” commercials that show a chain of people helping other people? One person offers a random act of kindness which creates a ripple effect of good feelings through the community.

That’s what Trish Moulton, Owner of the HYPERLINK "http://dancestudioofmaine.com" Dance Studio of Maine said it felt like last week when dancers from her studio performed for the Portland Center for Assisted Living. Moulton encourages her dancers to volunteer each year. This year, dance student Sally Aube sang the National Anthem to kick off the performance for 30 residents. The dancers, ranging in age from 8 to 15 performed a tap piece choreographed by Maria McInnis and created their own choreography for several numbers.

“Some of the residents are former dancers and dance instructors,” said Trish Moulton. “The girls really brought them joy. I think it is so important to encourage the girls to connect with people in their community. I was so glad they could all share that experience together.” Dancers included Molly, Sally, Kelly, and Maggy Aube, Kate and Meaghan Gilbert, Kate and Grace Andrews, Alexis Fotter, and Makenzie and Kerrigan Goudreau.
