Richard Glazier, Foremost Authority on the American Popular Song,
Takes Viewers on Nostalgic Journey
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Richard Glazier is considered one of America's foremost authorities on the American popular song and a brilliant musical interpreter of many unforgettable tunes, including Judy Garland's Somewhere Over the Rainbow. In an intimate studio setting, renowned pianist Richard Glazier performs his greatest pieces, including Rhapsody in Blue and such masterpieces as I Got Rhythm, Someone to Watch Over Me, and Love Is Here to Stay. This special event allows viewers to join Richard on his nostalgic voyage, providing an opportunity to gain a new understanding of some of America's greatest composers and singers. Richard Glazier's passion for the music of George and Ira Gershwin began long before he ever heard the opening glissando from Rhapsody in Blue. As a youngster, he sought out Ira Gershwin, who mentored Glazier in his early development as a pianist. Later, he met other famous songwriters like Johnny Green (Body and Soul) and Hugh Martin (Boy Next Door and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas). According to Michael Feinstein, "Richard Glazier has Gershwin in his soul." And Clavier Magazine wrote of him, "Gershwin's piano music has found an exquisite voice in Richard Glazier."
Glazier has performed in nearly every state of the union, bringing audiences not only the music of the Golden Age of American Popular Song, but fascinating commentary about the composers of the era as well. Weaving stories, film clips, and piano performances, Glazier's performance is entertaining, educational, and inspiring. For some of his audience, Glazier brings back fond memories, for others he gives an exciting glimpse of our musical heritage.
