Palisades Virtuosi Presents Remembrance and Rebirth Concert

Ridgewood, NJ - The critically-acclaimed Palisades Virtuosi presents Remembrance and Rebirth - the third concert of their 2009-2010 season on Saturday, April 10 - 8 PM at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 Cottage Place in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The evening begins with a pre-concert talk with the performers and commissioned composer at 7:15.

This program features the World Premiere of Between Worlds, a new work by Raymond Wojcik (b. 1981), commissioned by the Palisades Virtuosi. Mr. Wojcik has written for a variety of mediums including works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, dance companies and film. He has been composer-in-residence at The Conductors Institute at Bard, the Cape May Music Festival (NJ), and at Kean Universitys Ars Vitalis. Raymonds two CD's on Albany Records Akin To Fire and Pictures and Stories have earned critical rave reviews. His music has been frequently broadcast nationwide on public radio. Other works on the program will be Wind Space (a 9-11 commemorative) by Brian Schober, Lee Hoibys Also and Goodby, Goodby World for flute, clarinet & piano, The Raspberry Man for narrator, flute, clarinet & piano by William Vollinger, Elegy for clarinet & piano by Ferruccio Busoni, Pavanne in F# minor by Gabriel Faure from Pelleas et Melisande, Pavane pour une Infante Defunte by Maurice Ravel and Beethovens Spring Sonata, transcribed by Palisades Virtuosi.

The Palisades Virtuosi, consisting of flutist Margaret Swinchoski, clarinetist Donald Mokrynski and pianist Ron Levy, is a 501 (c)(3) organization established to promote and enrich the repertoire for flute, clarinet and piano and present concerts that include existing and newly-commissioned repertoire for this configuration (each of their concerts includes a work commissioned by the ensemble), supplemented by solos, duos and larger works featuring guest artists.
