UNIVERSITY PARK (Wednesday, Jan. 27)—The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State is collecting donations through April 15 to benefit food banks throughout Centre County.

Patrons may donate non-perishable foods and household items at Center for the Performing Arts presentations in Eisenhower Auditorium beginning with The Trial of the Catonsville Nine on Feb. 2 and ending with Mamma Mia! on April 15. Go to www.cpa.psu.edu for a list of events.

Food donations may also be dropped off at Eisenhower during regular business hours—8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Items that are especially needed include cooking oil and spray, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, canned vegetables, baking mixes, pasta and noodles, soup, baby-care items, pet supplies, laundry and dish detergent, supermarket gift cards and hygiene products.

All donations will be contributed to the Centre County Network of Food Banks.

“This is the time to donate,” says Wanda Scaife, assistant to the director at the Center for the Performing Arts. “The holiday season is inundated with donations. They experience a decline in donations during the spring, and we want to contribute during that time period.”
