Mirian Conti in Recital at Shanghai Concert Hall in Shanghai, China

New York – Argentinean born, New York-based pianist Mirian Conti will be in concert on Friday, January 22 - 7:30 PM at Shanghai Concert Hall, located at 523 Yan'an Road in Shanghai, China.

This concert will feature Ms. Conti performing music of Scott Joplin, Vincent Persichetti, Gershwin, Ellington, Howard Hanson, Zez Confrey, Ernesto Halffter, Manuel de Falla, Ernesto Nazareth, Juan Jose Ramos, Mario Broeders, Alberto Ginastera and others.

Mirian Conti, a Steinway Artist, has been awarded International Piano Magazine’s prize for the Best New Piano Music Recording of 2008 for her CD Benjamin Lees Piano Music, 1947-2005. The award was announced in the British magazine’s November/December 2008 issue. They wrote, “This release epitomizes the ideal for the New Piano Music Award: strong, unfamiliar music…brilliantly executed by Argentine pianist Mirian Conti.”

Ms. Conti enjoys a reputation as a musician whose performances combine technical brilliance with striking originality and artistic insight. Stylistically assured in a wide range of repertoire, Ms. Conti is considered a leading exponent of Spanish music. Her recordings of contemporary scores for Koch, Toccata Classics and Albany have garnered worldwide critical praise. Other recent CDs include Phillip Ramey Piano Music, Volume 2: 1966-2007 (Toccata Classics), Ernesto Halffter: Sonatina, Serenade, L'espagnolade (Koch International Classics) and Looking South - Piano Music From Argentina (Albany Records).

She is on the faculty of Juilliard School of Music, which selected her as one of the "100 Outstanding Alumni" to celebrate their Centennial in 2005-6 and where she is teaching "The Evolution of Tango." Visit her at http://www.mirianconti.com/index.html.
