Tribute to My Mother Fanny Milstein on Art & Fine Living with Jona Jan 2010
“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls: the most impressive characters are seared with scars...”
Khalil Gibran
A Tribute to My Mother, Fanny Milstein (1937 – 1974)
Join me in celebrating my mother’s memory in a program marking the end of the 35th anniversary of her passing, to air January 24th and 26th.
My exceptional mother, Fanny-Feige Milstein, left us on February 14, 1974 at the age of 37. My mother's memory and extraordinary life are celebrated in this hour, with stories, poetry, the music she loved, the music she heard and was inspired by throughout her childhood in Russia, her wanderings in Europe and her final arrival in Israel in 1952.
My only guest is my most cherished grandmother, Zina Milstein, who joined me by phone from Israel. Endorsements were recorded by my family members.
Music : Philips - Galina Gorchakova (Tchaikovsky); Naxos - Milken Archive (Great Songs of the Yiddish Stage); DG - Violin Concerti (Nathan Milstein); Proper - Edith Piaf; Hataklit - Israel Songs; Analekta - Red Army Chorus; Delos - Dmitri Hvorostovsky (Where are you, my brothers?); Albany Records – Within These Spaces (Lori Laitman).
