Pianist Polly Ferman and GlamourTango in Concert in Buenos Aires

Uruguayan-American pianist Polly Ferman will be in concert with GlamourTango on Friday, December 18 – 8:00 PM at the Claridge Hotel, Tucuman 535 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The presentation is part of the Bares Notables 2009 Series.
GlamourTango is a celebration of the contributions of women to the art of tango. This program, enhanced by dramatic audiovisual materials, staging and lighting effects, showcases the many contributions of women to this unique blend of musical genres, styles, rhythms and dances that is tango. Under the musical direction of Ms. Ferman, other members of the Quintet are Eleonora Ferreyra, bandoneon, Maria Ines Rojas, bass, Florencia Argañaraz, violin and Paulina Fain, flute. Special guest will be vocalist Maria Volonte.

Polly Ferman has been called "musical ambassador of the Americas" by the Japan Times. One of the leading interpreters of the music of the Americas, she continues to captivate audiences with her outstanding performances of works by Gottschalk, Nazareth, Gershwin, Villa-Lobos, Ginastera and Piazzolla. Her extensive tours as a soloist have included performances with the Symphonies of San Francisco, Colorado, Vancouver, and Indianapolis, as well as orchestras in Japan, Ukraine, Philippines, Brazil, in addition to recitals in New York, Tokyo, Washington D.C., London, Munich and Buenos Aires. Ferman was the only soloist selected to play at the Pan American Games of 1992, where she performed Villa-Lobos with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She has performed to great acclaim in Cuba with the all-female chamber group Camerata Romeu.
Polly Ferman's numerous recordings constitute one of the most extensive collections of solo Latin American repertoire and are available on Music Masters, Musical Heritage Society, PAMAR, Talent Romeo Records, EPSA Music and Sondor.
