Vocal Music of Richard Brooks Presented by Golden Fleece, Ltd.

The World Premiere of Richard Brooks’ vocal work Impressions will be presented on Thursday, December 17 – 8 PM as part of Song New York - A Concert of American Vocal Music in the Renee Weiler Concert Hall of Greenwich House Music School, 46 Barrow Street, Manhattan (between Seventh Avenue South and Bedford St.). This program is presented By Golden Fleece,Ltd, with Musical Direction by Carmela Sinco.
Impressions is two settings for high voice and piano of writings by Oscar Wilde. Other composers on the program include Thomas Carlo Bo, Charles Coleman, Lou Rodgers, Ned Rorem, Gary M. Schneider, Carmela Sinco, Mira J. Spektor and Virgil Thomson.

Richard Brooks has composed nearly ninety works in all media. His music is widely performed at major venues and festivals throughout the United States and in Europe, by such performers and organizations as North/South Consonance, the No Borders Quartet, Golden Fleece Opera Company, the iO String Quartet, pianists Peter Vinograde and Nataliya Medvedovskaya, Gregg Smith's Adirondack Festival of American Music and violist Louise Schulman with guitarist William Zito.
He has been commissioned by, among others, the New York State Music Teachers National Association, twice by the Kent Philharmonia Orchestra in Grand Rapids, Michigan, twice by The Lark Ascending, by Elaine Comparone and Harpsichord Unlimited and by the Tri-Cities Opera (Binghamton, NY). Brooks has received a major grant from the SUNY Research Foundation (for composition), a Composer Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, an American Music Center grant, and several Meet the Composer awards.
