Pianist Polly Ferman in Concert with Youth Symphony of Veracruz, Mexico

Uruguayan-American pianist Polly Ferman will be in concert with bandoneon virtuoso Daniel Binelli and the Youth Symphony Orchestra of The State of Veracruz, Antonio Tornero, conducting, on Sunday, May 24 – 12:30 PM at the Sala “Emilio Carballido” del Teatro del Estado de Xalapa in Veracruz, Mexico.
The Binelli-Ferman Duo will join the orchestra to perform Binelli’s Homenaje Al Tango, a double concerto for piano and bandoneon. This will be the Mexican Premiere of this composition, which was given its Latin American Premiere performances in May 2008 with the La Plata Symphony Orchestra of Argentina and in June 2008 with the Montevideo Philharmonic in Uruguay.
Polly Ferman has been called "musical ambassador of the Americas" by the Japan Times. One of the leading interpreters of the music of the Americas, she continues to captivate audiences with her outstanding performances of works by Gottschalk, Nazareth, Gershwin, Villa-Lobos, Ginastera and Piazzolla. Her extensive tours as a soloist have included performances with the Symphonies of San Francisco, Colorado, Vancouver, and Indianapolis, as well as the Tokyo Philharmonic, Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra (Ukraine), Philippines Philharmonic, Sao Paulo State Symphony and the National Symphony of Argentina in addition to recitals in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Tokyo’s Suntory and Takemitsu Halls, Virginia’s Wolf Trapp, London’s St. Martin in the Fields, Koncert Halle of Munich, and the Buenos Aires Colon Theatre. Ferman was the only soloist selected to play at the Pan American Games of 1992, where she performed Villa-Lobos with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She has performed to great acclaim in Cuba with the all-female chamber group Camerata Romeu.
