Nestled between the Lakes Region and White Mountains of New Hampshire, the college town of Plymouth comes alive with classical music each July, when the New Hampshire Music Festival bursts upon the scene. Weekly concerts take place at the Silver Center for the Performing Arts, and feature a professional orchestra formed specifically for the festival, comprising musicians from across the country; a chamber group; and a chorus made from community members.
In addition to these eight ticketed concerts, even more free, casual, often al fresco, events are hosted in relaxed settings that range from coffee shops and parks to a 60-person winery listening room. And, live music on a mountain top is a fitting metaphor for the festival’s long journey.
Artists and repertoire TBA. Previous festivals have featured works by Brahms and Beethoven to Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky, with Debussy and Gershwin for good measure. Our programming has also included contemporary composers and world premieres. |
