With a cast of 6 dancers and 4 musicians, this work explores what it means to stay afloat in the in-between. We are split between cities, memories and generations; we are an amalgam of cultures, fully embodied and fragmented all at once; our movements are concurrently malleable and explosive, our identities fixed and infinitely fluid. Whether as immigrants, BIPOC identities or first generation Americans, this feeling of in-betweenness connects everyone in the work as we ask how and why—halfway between so many disparate extremes in time, space and state—we often feel our most enlivened selves.

BoxOffice@SCFTA.orghttp://https://www.scfta.org/events/2026/norbert-leo-butz Norbert Leo Butz is a two-time Tony Award winner for Best Actor in a Musical and is one of only nine actors ever to have won the award twice as lead actor.
In this special evening of story and song, Mr. Butz sings highlights from his storied three decades on the boards of Broadway - from his humble beginning as the 7th of 11 children (his first bed was a drawer!) to his Tony triumphs and everything in between!
Butz originated roles on Broadway in Jason Robert Browns’ The Last Five Years, Stephen Schwartz’s Wicked, in Andrew Lippa’s Big Fish, in Harry Connick Jr’s Thou Shalt Not (Tony nomination) in the Lincoln Center 2018 revival of My Fair Lady (Tony nomination) and his two Tony Winning performances in David Yazbek’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and in Shaiman and Whitman’s Catch Me If You Can.
Expect the unexpected in this singular evening of musical entertainment, by one of Broadway’s legendary leading men.

One would be forgiven for thinking that high-profile instrumental soloists prefer to “work alone.” On occasion, however, the stars align, and these extraordinary artists form unique collaborations to the enjoyment of all. We are pleased to welcome to our stage violinist Anne Akiko Meyers and classical guitarist Jason Vieaux for a special duo performance. Cutting-edge works by Philip Glass and Arturo Marquez weave together with music by Stravinsky and Piazzolla to create an international tapestry. The program also features a new piece by recent Kennedy Center Composer-in-Residence Mason Bates, of whom Ms. Meyers, famed for her impressive body of commissioned works, is a frequent muse. Together with Mr. Vieaux, called by NPR “perhaps the most precise and soulful classical guitarist of his generation,” this duo promises to ignite the mind and inspire the heart.

Maryland Opera - New Voices in Opera

info@marylandopera.orghttp://https://www.marylandopera.org/2025newvoices What is more operatic than the God of Love saving the world or a one-eyed warrior queen standing up for her people and fighting against oppression. Maryland Opera’s newest initiative, New Voices in Opera, brings fresh operatic works to the stage. The evening features a double bill of new works: Oshun by B.E. Boykin tells the story of the gods in the pantheon of the Ifa religion as they seek to bring rain to the lands of their worshippers. Kandake by Timothy Amukele recounts the trials of the one-eyed warrior queen, Amanirenas, as she fights to repel the Romans and protect her people. Both works feature a libretto by Jarrod Lee. These creators all have a strong connection to our performing community here in the greater Baltimore area. The performance will also include a mini recital with students from Morgan State and Towson Universities performing selections by African American composers.
