SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS: MUSIC THERAPY
Each year, AMTA provides over $25,000 in scholarship and grant opportunities to qualified AMTA members to support the education of music therapy students and continuing education for professional music therapists. All undergraduate, undergraduate equivalency students and graduate students enrolled in a college or university program in music therapy approved by the American Music Therapy Association. All interns in clinical training are considered eligible through their parent academic institution. Student status will be verified through that institution prior to awarding the prize. Applicants must be current Student Members of AMTA in the year in which they apply AND the year in which the award is granted.

- Arthur Flagler Fultz Research Award
The National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) offers more than $750,000 in competition and award prizes on the local, state and national level. The Biennial Young Artist and Ellis Duo-Pianists competitions award a total of $92,000 in awards and two years of performance bookings. Additional competitions are sponsored by the Federation in a wide range of categories, including voice, instrumental music, composition, dance, conducting, handicapped and visually impaired, and music therapy. NFMC also sponsors more than 38 annual and biennial awards for students desiring to attend the 20 sponsored Summer Music Centers.
A grant of $2,500 is awarded to a member of Sigma Alpha Iota who is enrolled in a program leading to a doctoral degree. This grant is most applicable to students in the final stages of their program. An abstract of the member's dissertation/final project is required. Dissertations are acceptable in Music Education, Music Therapy, Musicology, Ethno-musicology, Theory, Psychology of Music, or Applied Research including Performance or Pedagogy.
One $1,500 scholarship is available to an undergraduate or graduate member of Sigma Alpha Iota who has successfully completed a minimum of two years approved training toward a degree in music therapy. She must be continuing her studies in this field. Scholarships will be applied directly to recipient's tuition for program/school.
