The Ontario Pops Orchestra Announces 2019/2020 Concert Season Light Classical-Pop returns for a 5th season under the baton of Maestro Carlos Bastidas
Toronto, Ontario, December 2, 2019 - The Ontario Pops Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Carlos Bastidas, has announced its 2019/20 season featuring the world’s most beloved symphonic, popular and movie hits. The “Ontario Pops”, as the orchestra has become commonly known, will present a 3-concert season: The Sounds of Christmas, Spanish Flair, and From Hollywood to Broadway.
The Sounds of Christmas: Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 8pm
The orchestra will kick off the new season with The Sounds of Christmas. A new Toronto family tradition, this concert will add even more delight to the most wonderful time of the year. Featuring Gabrielle Turgeon, Soprano, the Swansea Dance School and James Moffett (Canadian Composer), the evening captures the holiday spirit with pieces like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, and Ave Maria.
Spanish Flair: Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 8pm
The Ontario Pops brings audiences a taste of Spain as Giovanni Ruiz (pan flute), Jean-Paul Desaulniers (violin), Felipe Luzuriaga (violin), and Alex Sandoval (Canadian composer) join them for a performance of Spanish hits. The line-up includes Tchaikovsky’s Spanish Dance from Swan Lake, Bizet’s Carmen Habanera and Alex Sandoval Journey Through the Ice Cavern.
From Hollywood to Broadway: Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 8pm
From Game of Thrones to Lord of the Rings, The Ontario Pops rolls out Hollywood and Broadway favourites for this year-end smash. Featuring: Daniel Jiang (violinist) and Emily Rocha (soprano).
All concerts will be held at Humber Valley United Church, 76 Anglesey Blvd, Toronto.
