The World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC) is proud to announce that its 63rd General Assembly will be held May 8 -11, 2019 in Norrköping, Sweden.

Founded in 1957, the WFIMC is the premiere governing and support body for the world’s music competitions. Based in Geneva, the WFIMC is a network and advocacy organisation, representing the interests of more than 120 of the world’s leading music competitions.

Each year, the WFIMC General Assembly is hosted by one of its member competitions. In 2019, the highly regarded Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition will host the events. Over seventy international delegates representing competitions from across five continents will gather for four comprehensive days of keynote addresses, plenary and networking sessions, including concerts and cultural events

"The WFIMC is extremely important for all international competitions! I am both proud and happy, to have been given the opportunity to host the 63rd WFIMC General Assembly 2019, in my hometown Norrköping in Sweden!" declared Sonja Stenhammar, Artistic Director and Founder, WSIMC.

In 2019 the General Assembly welcomes industry representatives and guest speakers including Atholl Swainston-Harrion (CEO, International Artist Managers’ Association), Till Janczukowicz (CEO, IDAGIO), Oliver Condy (Editor, BBC Music Magazine) and Geoffrey John Davies (CEO, The Violin Channel). The annual assembly of the WFIMC allows members to share the accomplishments, debate challenges and learn more about Sweden and its cultural life.

Importantly, the 2019 General Assembly will consider eight new applications from music competitions eager to be recognised with WFIMC Membership.

“The WFIMC is thrilled to visit Sweden and to celebrate the work of the Stenhammar Competition. Bringing our members together to learn from one another and from invited speakers is invaluable for the future of today’s music competitions.” said Benjamin Woodroffe, Secretary-General, WFIMC.
