Chorus pro Musica set to perform with Andrea Bocelli December 15 at TD Garden

 BOSTON | Chorus pro Musica’s 70th anniversary season just keeps getting better. After all, it’s not every day that one of the world's most successful classical crossover and multi-instrumentalist performers comes calling. However for CpM, this is number three.

 Not long after the chorus’ sold-out season-opening concert at Jordan Hall featuring the world premiere of “Audubon,” a multimedia oratorio the chorus commissioned to open their season, they received the call. The call came from the organizers of world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli who is coming to Boston on December 15 to perform at TD Garden. The chorus will join him to perform some of Bocelli’s signature songs and holiday favorites.

“It’s an exciting time for us,” said CpM Music Director Jamie Kirsch. “Preparing for and now performing our 70th anniversary season has elicited so many incredible memories of our past, and at the same time we are exuberantly creating new ones. Singing with Andrea is a special honor, and that it is happening during this milestone season makes it all that more special.”

For the 100-volunteer choristers this opportunity was an early Christmas present. “It’s really a fascinating experience to sing behind one of the greats like Andrea Bocelli in New England’s largest concert arena,” said Tori Cook, long-time CpM member and president of the board. “You’re standing in stage in front of 20,000 people, the lights go out and suddenly you’re staring into a black abyss listening to thunderous applause. It’s something you’ll never forget.”

Chorus pro Musica’s 2018-19 Season

CpM’s season continues with their annual holiday celebration, Candlelight Christmas at Old South, on December 14, and Brahms Requiem and works by Purcell and others on March 16 at First Baptist Church, Newton Centre. The season concludes with “Eternity,” featuring Frank Martin’s “Mass for Double Choir” and Bach’s “Lobet den Herrn,” May 31 at Distler Hall, Tufts University, Medford.
