Chappaqua Orchestra Begins a Conductor Search

August 17, 2018 | By David Restivo
Executive Director

The Chappaqua Orchestra, now in its 60thseason, is pleased to announce our search for a new conductor. Below are the qualifications and job description.

TCO consists of 80% - 85% professional musicians with the remainder being highly qualified semi-professional and avocational players from the tri-state region. All current players will have the opportunity to continue with the group. All new players are required to audition. TCO typically performs with 1 - 2 rehearsals per concert.

We invite experienced conductors to apply by emailing a statement of interest, a current resume or CV, and links to video examples of your conducting to info@chappaquaorchestra.org. In addition to your educational and conducting background, we’d also like to know about the repertoire you would like to present as well as your other current commitments and constraints. We ask that all applications be received by October 15, 2018. From mid-October to mid-November, we will review the materials. We will select 5-6 finalists by November. Each candidate will be invited for an interview and over the next two seasons, will have the opportunity to prepare for and conduct one of our concerts. After all candidates have performed, an evaluation committee will make a final decision.  Finalists will not receive payment for their audition concert. Upon final decision, this will be a paid position with the amount to be determined.
