Musicians from Marlboro, in 53rd Season, Offers Diverse Programs in Greenwich, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Boston

Musicians from Marlboro has introduced audiences to such artists as Jonathan Biss, Yefim Bronfman, Jeremy Denk, Richard Goode, Murray Perahia, Sir András Schiff, and Peter Serkin at the beginning of their careers and offered most of these artists their first touring experience. The tour will present a new crop of young musicians playing together with seasoned veterans when the venerable series concludes with its final tour of the season.

Tessa Lark, violin, is the winner of a 2016 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Naumburg International Violin Competition. A recipient of a career grant from the Leonore Annenberg Fellowship Fund for the Performing and Visual Arts in 2014, Ms. Lark is an international soloist and frequent recitalist. She was named silver medalist of the 2014 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and is its highest-ranked American-born winner. A native of Kentucky, she also regularly performs bluegrass and Appalachian music and has collaborated with Mark O'Connor.

Robin Scott, violin, has built a career as a soloist, chamber musician, and concertmaster. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras including the Minnesota Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony, and the Orchestre National de Lille in France and has given numerous recitals throughout the United States and abroad. Mr. Scott is also first violinist of the Grammy Award-winning Ying Quartet. He received his bachelor’s at the New England Conservatory and his Artist Diploma at Indiana University, where he was a student of Miriam Fried.

Rebecca Albers, viola, is the principal violist of the Minnesota Orchestra. She has performed throughout the US, Europe, and Asia, having made her New York debut at Lincoln Center performing the New York premiere of Adler’s Viola Concerto. As a chamber musician, she has performed at such festivals as Marlboro, the Seattle Chamber Music Society Summer and Winter Festivals, and Music at Prussia Cove among others. Ms. Albers received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Juilliard School, where she studied with Heidi Castleman and Hsin-Yun Huang.

Molly Carr, viola, is praised for her “ravishing sound” (The Strad) and “passionate talent and beautiful poise” (AVS). As winner of the Juilliard Concerto Competition, Ms. Carr made her New York concerto debut with the Juilliard Orchestra; since then, she has appeared in solo, recital, and chamber concerts across the globe in collaboration with such renowned artists as Itzhak Perlman, Peter Wiley, Ida Kavafian, and Pamela Frank. Ms. Carr received B.M. and M.M. degrees from the Juilliard School and is the founding director of the nonprofit Project: Music Heals Us.  

Marcy Rosen, cello, has been recognized by the New Yorker as “a New York legend of the cello,” The Los Angeles Times has called her “one of the intimate art’s abiding treasures.” Ms. Rosen has performed in recital and with orchestras throughout the world and in all 50 of the United States. She has collaborated with the world’s finest musicians and is a founding member of La Fenice as well as the Mendelssohn String Quartet. Since first attending Marlboro in 1975, she has taken part in 21 Musicians from Marlboro tours and performed in concerts celebrating the festival’s 40^th, 50^th, and 60^th anniversaries. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Ms. Rosen is currently professor of cello at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College and serves on the faculty at the Mannes College of Music.

This is the final Musicians from Marlboro touring concert of the season, but tickets are also on sale now for our summer season, with five weekends of performances and open rehearsals, July 14-August 12.
