Charleston, SC – Incontri Musicali and its roster of talented young musicians from around the world returns to Charleston for two concerts on Friday, October 20th and Saturday, October 21st. Both concerts will be held at 7:30 PM in the intimate setting of the Sottile-Thompson Recital Hall at Ashley Hall located at 172 Rutledge Avenue. Featured artists include clarinetist Narek Artutyunian, violinist Niccoló Muti, violist Hannah Nicholas, cellist Connor Kim, and pianist Carlin Ma. The ensemble will be joined on Friday by hometown favorite, pianist Enrique Graf.

Friday’s program includes Gian Carlo Menotti’s Clarinet Trio and works by Zoltan Kodaly and Robert Schumann. The concert will conclude with Mozart’s Piano Quartet in g minor featuring Mr. Graf. The following evening’s program will feature a little known clarinet quartet by Bernhard Crusell, a piece for solo piano by Claude Debussy, and Beethoven’s Clarinet Trio op.11.

Since its inception in 2012, Incontri Musicali has been bringing together classical music’s most promising young musicians from around the globe, offering eclectic programs that cover the standard repertoire but highlights new or rarely played works.

Internationally acclaimed pianist Enrique Graf has been described as “one of the best interpreters of his generation” (El Pais) who plays with “fiery virtuosity” (The New York Times). This season Mr. Graf performs in England, Scotland, the United States, Mexico, Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil.

Throughout the week prior to the concert, the young artists will be in residence at Ashley Hall and will perform and give presentations at public elementary schools, retirement communities, and hospitals in Charleston.

These concerts are part of Ashley Hall’s 2017-2018 Performing Artists in Residence Series. Tickets are $20 for adults and are free for all students. There will be a reception before each concert at 6:45 PM.
