Hosted in the spectacular and historical city of Cortona, many of the world’s finest classical musicians will gather at NUME for a truly unparalleled experience which unites young artists with established musicians, connects string players from all over the world, and immerses these musicians in the beauty of Cortonese heritage.
The NUME 2023 Artists comprise: the Marmen Quartet, Songha Choi (violin), Hayoung Choi (cello), Ettore Causa (viola), Nobuko Imai (viola), Rinat Shaham (mezzo-soprano), Augustin Hadelich (violin), Steven Isserlis (cello), Mi-kyung Lee (violin), Antonio Lysy (cello), Vlad Stanculeasa (violin), and Lorena Tecu (piano). Together, these artists share their time and expertise in an intimate setting with Academy musicians as well as through public concerts. Discourse between Festival Artists and Academy participants is fostered through shared meals, activities, and musical experiences.
The venues in which concerts and masterclasses will be held are reflective of Cortona’s immense artistic heredity and the value placed on preserving important historical relics while celebrating the evolution of creative output up to the present. As the birthplace of Renaissance painter Luca Signorelli, the Teatro Signorelli remains a major presenter of the performing arts in Cortona, and it is the location of several NUME performances including Augustin Hadelich, Rinat Shaham, and Steven Isserlis. At the globally-renowned Relais & Chateaux Il Falconiere, which houses the Michelin-starred restaurant of the same name, NUME Festival & Academy will be welcomed in a recital with Songha Choi and Vlad Stanculeasa (violins), Ettore Causa (viola), and Hayoung Choi (cello), marking Il Falconiere’s debut as a recital venue. Additionally, NUME Festival returns to the spectacular Relais La Corte Dei Papi with the Marmen Quartet, and the Centro Convegni Sant’Agostino.
