Performance by River Oaks Chamber Orchestra and conductor Mei-Ann Chen featured in Today's Performance Today

Nationally syndicated PerformanceToday will feature Gabriel Faure's Masques et bergamasques, Op. 12, from the September 26, 2020 River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO) concert on today's program. Performed and recorded at Houston's Cynthia Wood Mitchell Pavilion, and led by conductor Mei-Ann Chen, first-ever Artistic Partner of ROCO, the performance airs in the second hour of the program.
 
Praised for her dynamic, passionate conducting style, Taiwanese American conductor Mei-Ann Chen is acclaimed for infusing orchestras with energy, enthusiasm and high-level music-making, galvanizing audiences and communities alike. Music Director of the MacArthur Award-winning Chicago Sinfonietta since 2011, Ms. Chen has been named the first-ever Principal Guest Conductor of Austria’s Recreation Grosses Orchester Grazand the first-ever Artistic Partner of Houston’s River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, both effective September 2019. She also has served as Artistic Director & Conductor for the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Summer Festival since 2016. Highly regarded as a compelling communicator and an innovative leader both on and off the podium, and a sought-after guest conductor, Ms. Chen continues to expand her relationships with orchestras worldwide (over 110 orchestras to date).
 
A dynamic and innovative professional music ensemble, River Oaks Chamber Orchestra flexes from 1 to 40 players from all over the US and Canada, with guest artists from around the world. Performing intimate concerts in dozens of venues, ROCO’s musicians don’t just give concerts – they challenge preconceptions, create extraordinary experiences, and foster new relationships with audiences through the language of music.
