Frost School of Music Faculty and Alumni Receive Grammy Nominations

(Coral Gables, FL – December 14, 2018)  The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami is proud to announce its faculty and alumni who received and/or participated in recordings that received GRAMMY™ nominations. Included in the stellar list are three esteemed faculty members, and five alumni (of which one is a current graduate student).

In commenting Dean Shelton G. Berg stated:  “I couldn’t be more proud of the recognition received today from the Recording Academy for our esteemed Frost School of Music faculty, alumni and even a current graduate student. These professionals truly permeate the highest level of performance, composition, production and business, and to be recognized by their peers with a Grammy Award nomination, is the ultimate acknowledgement. ”

John Daversa – Chair/Associate Professor of Studio Music and Jazz

Nominated for three Grammys for American Dreamers Voices of  Hope Music and Freedom with Daca Artists

  • Best Improvised Jazz Solo (Don’t Fence Me In)

Dafnis Prieto – Assistant Professor of Practice (Drums) of Studio Music and Jazz

  • Best Latin Jazz Album (Back To The Sunset)

 Craig Morris—Associate Professor of Trumpet/Chamber Music Coach

  • Best Instrumental Classical Performance (Philip Glass: Three Pieces In The Shape of a Square)

The 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards will be telecast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 10, 2019 on the CBS Television Network at 8 PM/ET, 5 PM/PT.
