Micah Wilkinson to Be New Principal Trumpet of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

Beginning January 15, 2018, Micah Wilkinson will be the new Principal Trumpet of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. A native of Norcross, Georgia, Micah Wilkinson has enjoyed a varied career as an orchestral musician, soloist, chamber artist and professor. He is currently the Principal Trumpet of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, a title he has held since the fall of 2014. He previously held positions with the Houston Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, the Oregon Symphony and the Tucson Symphony. Mr. Wilkinson is a graduate of St. Olaf College, and pursued additional studies at Arizona State University and the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, Germany. His primary teachers include Martin Hodel, David Hickman, Larry Black and Anthony Plog. He currently lives in San Diego along with his wife Stefani, their daughters Eleanor and Amelia, and their Basset Hound Barber.
