Rockport Music Announces 17-18 Classical Season

Rockport Music proudly announces its 2017-18 Classical Season, the first season under the direction of Rockport Music’s new classical Artistic Director Barry Shiffman. The season features the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center as well as the Grammy Award-winning Ying Quartet collaborating with Grammy Award-winning cellist Zuill Bailey and new Artistic Director Barry Shiffman. The season continues with concerts by renowned cellist Clemens Hagen with Grammy Award-winning pianist Kirill Gerstein and the Juilliard415 Ensemble with baroque violinist Rachel Podger performing Telemann’s Tafelmusik. Vocal programs bring a holiday-themed concert by Cantus, the “premier men’s vocal ensemble in the United States” (Fanfare) and 5-time Grammy Award winner and star of the opera stage—soprano Dawn Upshaw with pianist Gilbert Kalish. A Deutsche Grammophon recording artist, Korean piano sensation Seong-Jin Cho makes his Rockport debut following his recent Chopin Competition win and Carnegie Hall success, and American violinist Jinjoo Cho, winner of the famed Indianapolis Violin Competition brings a recital with duo partner pianist Hyun Soo Kim.
