San Diego Symphony Announces Joan Cumming as Vice President of Marketing and Communications
Martha Gilmer, chief executive officer of the San Diego Symphony, announced the appointment today of Joan Cumming as vice president of marketing and communications. In this position, Cumming will work closely with Gilmer, senior management, the board of directors and key constituents to plan and execute a comprehensive strategy connecting San Diego audiences. She will also continue to enhance the image of the San Diego Symphony both nationally and internationally.
Joan is currently the vice president of public relations and communications at the Music Center of Los Angeles County. She has served as the vice president of marketing and communications for the Los Angeles Philharmonic at both the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, and as director of marketing and communications of the Los Angeles Opera and the Autry National Center in Los Angeles. She was director of marketing of La Jolla Playhouse from 2007-2009.
