Palisades Virtuosi Presents Hope Springs Eternal Concert on April 19 at Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, New Jersey

Bogota, NJ - The Palisades Virtuosi flute, clarinet and piano trio presents Hope Springs Eternal - the third subscription concert of their 2014-2015 season on Sunday, April 19 at 7:30 PM at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 Cottage Place in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The evening, presented by Society Café Concert Series, will also include a pre-concert composer and performer talk at 6:45.
The April 19 concert repertoire includes the World Premiere of a newly commissioned work by composer Gary Schocker. This is part of the ensemble’s “mission to commission”, which has so far resulted in more than 40 new works created for them since 2003.
Other works on the program are Beethoven’s Spring Sonata, arranged by the Virtuosi, Lili Boulanger’s D’Un Matin du Printemps, Frank Bridge’s Four Short Pieces, Eric Ewazen’s Wildflowers, Joseph Lamb’s American Beauty Rag and Mendelssohn’s Spring Song.
Flutist-composer-pianist Gary Schocker made his professional debut at age 15 when he performed as soloist with the New York Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra. He has won numerous competitions including the Young Concert Artists, the National Flute Association, the NY Flute Club and the East-West Artists. He has composed sonatas and chamber music for most instruments of the orchestra, and has also has written several musicals, including Far From the Madding Crowd and The Awakening. The Palisades Virtuosi, consisting of flutist Margaret Swinchoski, clarinetist Donald Mokrynski and pianist Ron Levy, is a 501 (c)(3) organization established to promote and enrich the repertoire for flute, clarinet and piano and present concerts that include existing and newly-commissioned repertoire for this configuration (each of their concerts includes a work commissioned by the ensemble), supplemented by solos, duos and larger works featuring guest artists.
