Chamber Music of Lawrence Dillon at Wintergreen Summer Music Festival

Lawrence Dillon’s Furies and Muses for bassoon and string quartet will be performed by the Wintergreen Chamber Players on Thursday, July 21 – 7:30 PM in the Theater of the Jefferson Visitor Center, 931 Thomas Jefferson Parkway in Monticello, VA.

The performance will be repeated by the Wintergreen Chamber Players on Friday, July 22 – 7:30 PM at Evans Center of the Wintergreen Resort, 39 Mountain Inn Loop in Wintergreen, VA. Other composers on this concert include Mozart, Saint Saens and Faure.

Performers will be Cynthia Cioffari, bassoon, Rachel Rudoi Hart, violin, Andrea Schultz, violin, Anne Lanzilotti, viola and Sara Sitzer, cello.

Lawrence Dillon is Composer-in-Residence at Wintergreen Summer Music Festival and Academy from July 11 through 22. This has included the World Premiere of his Terranean Meditation, given by the Quartetto Sassofoni di Accademia on July 14 and 15. He will also be leading classes and lessons during his stay. He is also Composer in Residence at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and has had recent commissions and performances by the Emerson String Quartet, the Mansfield (OH) Symphony, the Boise Philharmonic, the Salt Lake City Symphony, the Daedalus String Quartet, the University of Utah Philharmonia and the Idyllwild (CA) Symphony Orchestra. He has won awards from ASCAP, the Juilliard School, the Ravinia Festival, the International Horn Society, the American Music Center, CRS and many other organizations. His music is published by American Composers Editions.
