FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | New York, New York (September 14, 2023) | On Thursday, October 5th, 2023, at 8:30PM, multi-talented instrumentalist and modern-day vaudevillian vocalist Bryce Edwards makes his solo debut at Birdland Theater with “The Bryce Edwards Frivolity Hour.” The acclaimed troubadour presents a variety show that enthusiastically reviews traditional jazz and popular music from the 1910s, 20s, and 30s, bringing his singular verve and sensibility to songs made famous by artists such as Bing Crosby, Ted Lewis, Cliff Edwards, and more. Taking cues from the crooners of the time, as well as the bombastic voices of the acoustic phonograph era, Edwards accompanies himself on a myriad of instruments, including banjo, ukulele, tenor guitar, and mandolin. In between musical numbers, Edwards gleefully delivers snappy dialogue and witty banter, providing a timeless night of entertainment and fun. Joined by extraordinary jazzmen Scott Ricketts (cornet), Ricky Alexander (clarinet, tenor saxophone), Conal Fowkes (piano), and Jay Rattman (bass saxophone), Edwards brings his delightfully idiosyncratic and eccentric performance style to Birdland’s most intimate space.

Earlier this year, Edwards’ performance of  “The Bryce Edwards Frivolity Hour” twice sold-out Don’t Tell Mama and received wide acclaim. A favorite of the concert and cabaret community, the event was studded with luminaries such as Marilyn Maye, Nicolas King, Jim Caruso, Susie Mosher, and more.

In advance of his Birdland debut, Edwards performs “Frivolity Hour” on Sunday, September 24 at 4PM at The Philipstown Depot Theatre in Garrison New York.

About Bryce Edwards
Bryce Edwards is an actor and cabaret performer from New York. When he is not performing in the Frivolity Hour, he can be found toting his banjo throughout the city and the greater tri-state area (most regularly with the Rivertown Vintage Jazz Band), performing in and providing original songs for projects such as Ayun Halliday and Greg Kotis’ Necromancers of the Public Domain, and the serialized audio drama The Forgotten. Continuing with the trend of embracing the old stuff, Bryce is a hot jazz and cabaret performer intent on revitalizing jazz, vaudeville, and popular tunes from the 1910 to 30s, accompanying his vocals on tenor banjo, ukulele, and mandolin. He has appeared with Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, and is a  fan favorite at Jim Caruso’s Cast Party. Bryce is also a fine artist and working freelance illustrator. He graduated summa cum laude from Baldwin Wallace University with a BFA in classical acting and minor in studio art. Bryce has performed both on and offstage at The Philipstown Depot Theatre, where he works as a stage manager and audio engineer. He’s played a young Taylor Mac in the original NYTW reading of The Fre, and a young Phil Geoffrey Bond (William Curtis III) in Bond’s original play Small Town Confessions. You can catch Bryce in the independent film, The Seasons, winner of the Hamilton New York International Film Festival, 2023, where he also provided a multitracked doo wop backing vocal on Paul Schwartz’s original song, My Valentine.
