NATHAN COLE, who joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic as First Associate Concertmaster in 2011, has appeared as guest concertmaster with the orchestras of Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Houston, Ottawa, Seattle, and Oregon. He was previously a member of the Chicago Symphony and Principal Second Violin of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. A native of Lexington, KY, he made his debut with the Louisville Orchestra at the age of ten while studying with Donna Wiehe. After eight years working with Daniel Mason, Cole enrolled at the Curtis Institute of Music. In addition to his studies there with Pamela Frank, Felix Galimir, Ida Kavafian, and Jaime Laredo, Cole formed the Grancino String Quartet, debuting in New York’s Weill Hall. Several summers at Marlboro enriched his love of chamber music.

While in Chicago, Cole taught at Roosevelt University and coached the Chicago Civic Orchestra. He is currently on the faculty at the Colburn School for the Performing Arts and Azusa Pacific University, with classes at the Colburn Conservatory and USC. He is also on the faculty at Azusa Pacific University. His articles and photographs have appeared in Strings, Symphony, and Chamber Music magazines.

Nathan is an online teaching artist with ArtistWorks. The Nathan Cole School of Violin includes a video curriculum of all major orchestral excerpts, plus concertos, etudes, and fundamental lessons. Visit him at natesviolin.com.

MARK ROBERTSON is the co-Music Director and concertmaster of the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra. He is originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Both parents were musical (piano & voice) which led to Mark to picking up the violin at the early age of five. After graduating from Boston University and The Juilliard School, Mark moved to Los Angeles in 1995, shortly after giving his New York Recital Debut at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. His violin teachers have included Dorothy DeLay, Kurt Sassmansshaus, Piotr Milewski, and Martin Chalifour. A ten-year alumnus of the Aspen Music Festival, Mark served as concertmaster of both the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Concert Orchestra under such esteemed conductors as James Conlon, Junichi Hirokami, and Murry Sidlin.

While in Los Angeles, Mark has been guest concertmaster for the Riverside County Philharmonic, the New West Symphony, the Pasadena Pops, and the Culver City Chamber Orchestra. He has also recorded for over 500 movie & television soundtracks, including serving as concertmaster for the upcoming films Baywatch and Shock and Awe, as well as previous films such as Contagion, Much Ado About Nothing, Ride Along 1 & 2, Premium Rush, Blackfish, Merchants of Doubt, and Horrible Bosses 1 & 2. He has conducted ensembles at the Aspen Music Festival, the Coachella Music Festival (Wu-Tang Clan), and for Access Hollywood (Carly Rae Jepsen). On the pop music side of things, Mark has worked with A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera, Billy Childs, Daughtry, OneRepublic, the Fray, and Kelly Clarkson, among others. He recently served as concertmaster for Kevin Spacey’s live show in Sonoma and for Il Volo's live show at the Microsoft Theater, where Placido Domingo joined the trio in several arias.

THE HOLLYWOOD CHAMBER ORCHESTRA was created in 2015 by Los Angeles musicians Noah Gladstone and Mark Robertson, to fill a void in the Hollywood area of a full-time orchestra. In its first two years, the HCO has commissioned and premiered several new works, including the world premiere of the documentary film Blackfish, live to picture, with Emmy-Award winning composer Jeff Beal conducting. They have presented concerts at Zipper Hall, the Montalban Theater, Segerstrom Hall, the Moss Theater, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Soloists that have appeared with the HCO include Sarah Chang, Martin Chalifour, Andrew Bain, Eddie Daniels, Golda Berkman, and Dale Clevenger.
