Nestled among the rolling hills of the Umbrian countryside, the historic Castello di Postignano welcomes the first annual chamber music festival Between Light and Dreams (Tra Luce e Sogno). From 26-29 July, this historic ‘borgo’ will be the centre of an exciting new musical experience, where the artists will share their passion for music-making in a unique setting.

Created by Artistic Director and internationally renowned pianist Mari Kodama and Executive Director and classical music enthusiast Bita Cattelan, the Festival will offer the opportunity to listen to some of the best chamber music artists in the world along with special guided visits to Assisi and a nature walk, wine-tasting and gourmet dinners.

Violinists  Andrey Baranov, Svetlana Makarova, Grazia Raimondi, Pavel Vernikov are joined by violists Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad and Hartmut Rohde, cellists Matt Haimovitz  and Luigi Piovani, clarinettist Pascal Moragues, harpist Clara Bellegarde and pianists Mari Kodama, Momo Kodama, and Gerold Huber in performances of works by Prokofiev, Haydn, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Mendelssohn, Benjamin, Ravel, Bruch, Poulenc, Debussy, Bach, Busoni and Bruch. On Saturday, July 28, baritone Christian Gerhaher and pianist Gerold Huber will present a special Lieberabend.

The Castello di Postignano is a historic medieval fortified borgo, or hamlet, that had languished abandoned for decades. Built between the 9th and 10th centuries, it was purchased in the mid-nineties by MIRTO and restored by a passionate and dedicated team. The concerts take place in the church, which features the remains of 16th century frescoes attributed to the school of De Magistris, called "Il Caldarola". www.traluceesogno.squarespace.com
