Leonia Chamber Musicians Society Performs 'Timeless Romantics'
on April 8
(Leonia, New Jersey; March 7, 2018) -- The Leonia Chamber Musicians Society, Inc., a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, will perform their final concert of the season, 'Timeless Romantics: Bridging the 19th and 20th Centuries', on Sunday, April 8, 2018. The performance begins at 4:00 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, located at 150 Park Avenue in Leonia, New Jersey.
The concert will present melodic music by French composers Louise Farrenc, Jacques Ibert, Philippe Gaubert and Francis Poulenc. Their music was rooted in the classical European tradition and yet, they all embraced the new art forms of the 20th century. They were influenced by better known composers of their generation, such as Louis-Hector Berlioz, Claude Debussy and Igor Stravinsky. The music to be performed will show how the composers incorporated beautiful melodies expressed in a modern framework.
The Leonia Chamber Musicians Society's members Theresa Norris, flute; Marsha Heller, oboe; and Daryl Goldberg, cello will be joined by guest artists Chris Cullen, clarinet; Atsuko Sato, bassoon; Richard Hagen, French horn; and Adrienne Kim and Beth Robin, pianists. The audience is invited to meet the musicians, make new friends, and enjoy refreshments after the concert.
Concert series tickets may be purchased at the door for $30 adults, $25 seniors, and students under age 18, will be admitted free. This program is made possible in part by a grant administered by the Bergen County Division of Cultural & Historic Affairs from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
