Monteverdi & Bartok at the Hungarian House NYC |
|
On Sunday, July 1 at 5:00 pm, singers Deborah Carmichael, Kinga Cserjési, Marisa Michelson and Sara Serpa perform music by Monteverdi and Bartok. Members of the Choral Society of the Hamptons will make a special guest appearance.
?
This unique program weaves together works by the 17th century Italian and the 20th century Hungarian, demonstrating the common ground of the musical worlds of these two revolutionary composers.
?
All four singers practice the Libero Canto approach to singing: a wholistic concept of music-making that emphasizes freedom and authenticity. It was developed by the Hungarian Lajos Szamosi in Budapest in the 1930s, who called it, "the path to free singing" - la via al libero canto.
The performance is at the Hungarian House, 213 East 82nd Street in Manhattan.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $20 at the door.
