Three Tenors! -The Next Generation |

SF Bay Area music lovers will experience an extraordinary concert of passionate Italian opera arias along with sensuous Neapolitan songs. This concert will showcase the extraordinary talents of tenors Pene Pati, Alex Boyer and Christopher Oglesby, all accomplished opera singers who have garnered superlative accolades from music critics, colleagues and opera lovers. The vocalists will be backed by a full symphony orchestra under the direction of Grammy award-winning Maestro and long time Napa resident, Thomas Conlin who has conducted performances at numerous American and international opera and ballet companies and symphony orchestras on five continents.
This is a marvelous opportunity for SF Bay Area residents to revel in the opera culture in the beautiful historic Empress Theatre. |

Chris Grymes Open G Series: Danish Cellist Jakob Kullberg |

Chris Grymes’ Open G Series at National Sawdust presents the award winning Danish cellist Jakob Kullberg. Mr. Kullberg has worked extensively with many of the leading contemporary Scandinavian composers, premiering and recording major works by Per Nørgård, Kaija Saariaho, and Bent Sørensen, among others. A two-time winner of the Danish Grammy and an internationally-renowned performer and advocate of contemporary composers, Kullberg has assembled a program that features his favorite modern works by Nordic composers for cello, clarinet, and piano. He’s joined by Open G regulars Chris Grymes and Jeremy Gill.

The Austrian Cultural Forum New York presents the Argento Chamber Ensemble. Admission is free, and reservations (online at ACFNY.org) are required. Argento's "Double Take Project" explores two works: Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht (translation: transfigured night – 1899) and Erin Gee’s Mouthpiece 29 (2016), by performing two different versions of each piece in one concert.
Vocalist/composer Charmaine Lee and clarinetist Carol McGonnell embody the theme of the evening of duality opening the concert with a structured improvisation. Telegraph Quartet Debuts at Lincoln Center in Great Performers series |

On February 6, the San Francisco-based Telegraph Quartet (Eric Chin and Joseph Maile, violins; Pei-Ling Lin, viola; Jeremiah Shaw, cello), winner of the 2016 Naumburg Chamber Music Award, makes its Lincoln Center debut as part of the Great Performers series at Lincoln Center's David Rubenstein Atrium. For this free, hour-long program, the Telegraph pairs Haydn's final quartet, the nobly optimistic String Quartet in F Major ("Lobkowitz"), with Britten's vast and monumental String Quartet No. 2. Described by the San Francisco Chronicle as "an incredibly valuable addition to the cultural landscape," the Quartet has a passion for standard chamber music repertoire and contemporary works alike. |

World Premiere of Composer Robert Sirota's Job Fragments in New York |

The world premiere of composer Robert Sirota's Job Fragments is presented by Ensemble von Paradis at Goddard Riverside Community Center. Job Fragments (2019) was commissioned by the baritone Thomas Pellaton for Ensemble von Paradis, comprised of Pellaton, pianist James McCrory, and cellist Carol Buck. The libretto, by Victoria Sirota, is a condensed narrative of the Book of Job. Ensemble von Paradis performs additional works by Faure, Strauss, Mozart, Bach, and Maria Theresia von Paradis. This concert is part of Sirota @ 70, which features residencies, performances, and premieres during the 2019-20 season in honor of the composer's 70th birthday. |

The Curtis Symphony Orchestra finishes its first-ever United States tour at New York’s famed Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. Beethoven’s masterful “Emperor” Concerto is a monument of musical architecture, driven forward with beautiful flourishes and cascades. Esteemed Curtis piano faculty Jonathan Biss is the soloist, joined by conductor Osmo Vänskä. Also on the program is a new work by Curtis alumna Gabriella Smith. The program soars to a rousing conclusion with Sibelius’s majestic Symphony No. 2. |
