WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS FESTIVAL
The Verbier Festival, created in 1994, has a reputation for artistic excellence and is considered among the major European music festivals. Year on year, the Verbier Festival offers an increasingly varied program (including learning programs with its Academy and its Orchestras) and a growing number of concerts.
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
American maestro James Levine has chosen the Verbier Festival for his return after eight long years away from the European stage. The great maestro Zubin Mehta-on the podium for the very first Festival concert in July 1994-is returning for the first time in seven years. The Verbier Festival Orchestra will also have the privilege of being led by Valery Gergiev, Manfred Honeck, Gianandrea Noseda and-to bring the season to a fitting close-its music director, Charles Dutoit. These six conductors have made their mark on the Festival's history and no doubt they'll add a new chapter this summer.
