New York, NY---(Feb 17, 2009)---Piano virtuoso Xiayin Wang, (pronounced sha-EEN wong) returns to Miami this spring to perform at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. Dean Shelly Berg invited Ms. Wang to perform at the Maurice Gusman Concert Hall on Saturday, April 4 at 8:00 p.m. The evening’s program includes an eclectic mix of contemporary and classical pieces from composers the world over.

The Frost School of Music is located at 1314 Miller Drive, Coral Gables, FL, 33146. Tickets are free of charge, and seats may be reserved by calling 305-284-2438 or visiting http://www.music.miami.edu/concerts.html.

Describing Ms. Wang’s 2008 Carnegie Hall recital, The New York Times said, “Even for the most gifted young pianist, it takes a lot to be noticed. Xiayin Wang is clearly doing something right.” After her D.C. concert last June, The Washington Post deemed her “a paragon of virtuosity.”

In her native China, Xiayin Wang trained at the Shanghai Conservatory and has performed with many of that nation’s leading orchestras. Other concerto performances include the Tenerife Symphony of Spain, the Miami Symphony, and the City Symphony under Maestro George Manahan for her Carnegie Hall debut in 2007.

The Caramoor Festival, International Keyboard and Festival at Mannes have presented her in recital. Ms. Wang has toured extensively throughout the country and at leading music venues including Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Tanglewood, and the Smithsonian’s Meyer Auditorium.

Ms. Wang holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Professional Studies degrees from the Manhattan School of Music.

Her recital CD Introducing Xiayin Wang is available on the Marquis label. Naxos will release her upcoming album of the works of Russian composer Scriabin this May.
