--- Dubbed a "Paragon of Virtuosity" by The Washington Post, Pianist Xiayin Wang Makes Miami Debut on Oct 11 at Arsht Center ---

New York, NY---(October 8, 2008)---The award-winning Chinese pianist Xiayin Wang (pronounced sha-EEN wong) comes to Miami as part of a national Palomino Entertainment Group tour, which already has included Carnegie Hall and the Smithsonian’s Freer Auditorium. A stirring and highly-acclaimed musician, Ms. Wang makes her Miami debut on Saturday, October 11 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

As part of the Arsht Center’s “Take Center Stage Gala”, Ms. Wang shares the bill with the lauded Jencarlos Canela, The Miami City Ballet, New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy, Florida Grand Opera, and The Concert Association of Florida. The Arsht Center is located at 1300 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132. Tickets may be purchased by calling 786-468-2249 or by e-mailing gala@arshtcenter.org.

Describing her Zankel Hall recital this past April, The New York Times said, “Even for the most gifted young pianist, it takes a lot to be noticed. Xiayin Wang is clearly doing something right.” The Smithsonian Institution invited her to play the Freer Auditorium in June, and upon seeing that performance, The Washington Post deemed her “a paragon of virtuosity.”

"The positive and encouraging reviews of my concerts this year are very humbling,” Ms. Wang says. “I am looking forward to my first trip to Miami and am sure that audiences there will truly enjoy the Asian-American works and beautiful songs from my hometown, Shanghai."

In her native China, the pianist trained at the Shanghai Conservatory and took first place in numerous competitions. She received her bachelor’s, master’s, and professional studies degrees from the Manhattan School of Music. Ms. Wang’s principal teachers have included Dr. Solomon Mikowsky and Nina Svetlanova. She has performed with some of China’s leading orchestras, including the Beijing Opera House Symphony and the Zhe Jiang Symphony.

Since arriving in the U.S., she has played several performances at Carnegie Hall, where she debuted with concertos by Ravel and Schumann with the City Symphony under conductor George Manahan. She has been heard at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Tanglewood and the Caramoor Festival.

In 2006, she released the recital CD “Introducing Xiayin Wang” on the Marquis label. The world's leading classical music label, Naxos, will release Ms. Wang’s latest album of the works of the Russian composer Scriabin in 2009. Her national tour continues at the Rio Grande Theater in Las Cruces, New Mexico on Saturday, November 15, followed by a stop at the City Opera House in Traverse, Michigan on Friday, November 21.
