Eurasia Festival Kick-Off at NYC’s National Opera Center

The Eurasia Festival launches its premier season at The National Opera Center in New York City with a solo concert by world-renowned pianist Konstantin Soukhovetski. The gala event is slated for Friday evening, September 22 at 7:30. The New York Times has called Soukhovetski “a young pianist who captivates”, praising his “distinctive lyricism, immaculate technique, and vigor…refinement…and drama."

Reacting to his New York debut in 2006 at Alice Tully Hall, The New York Times also noted his “Romanticism so intense it warms up Philip Glass". Soukhovetski is recipient of over fifteen prestigious awards, including the Walter Naumburg Competition, the Cleveland International Piano Competition, the UNISA Competition in South Africa and the Bösendorfer Piano Competition.

Soukhovetski expresses enthusiasm about his upcoming appearance. “I'm thrilled to offer my New York fans a program tailored to the venue where I will be performing - the National Opera Center. I will be playing lots of my own original piano transcriptions of operatic favorites. I am also excited to be unveiling a new work which I am confident will cause quite a stir!”

“I'm delighted to see Eurasia Festival spring into life with a phenomenal lineup of talent!” he continues. “This new festival reaffirms my belief that New York City is the world’s best launching pad for the careers of the next generation of world-class performers!”

The Eurasia Festival will focus on introducing to the New York public music and musicians from Russia, the Baltics, the Caucasus and Central Asia. Festival events will be in intimate, salon-like settings at one of the City’s artistic hotspots, Opera America. Audiences will be invited to meet, mingle and chat with the visiting artists during elegant wine and dessert intermissions.

The festival’s Artistic Director is internationally celebrated pianist Aza Sydykov, a native of Kyrgyzstan and a graduate of Moscow’s famed Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Mannes School of Music in New York. “With our events featuring music from such a huge geo-cultural area as Eurasia, we plan to promote the musical heritages of our many countries, all sharing common musical roots, and great performing traditions,” he says. “With these musical offerings,” he continues, “we also hope to contribute to New York’s great tradition of cultural diversity and to promote dialogue between the United States and the nations and cultures of Eastern Europe and Asia.”

The Eurasia Festival is sponsored by Olympia Arts Productions, headed by operatic soprano Nikoleta Rallis. “Our festival events will provide a source of high-quality performances to music lovers thirsty for exposure to works they’ve never heard before,” she says. “The added bonus will be the chance to make new artistic friends in a comfortable salon setting.”

The festival’s 2017-2018 season will also feature recitals by internationally acclaimed pianists Pavel Nersessian, Vyacheslav Gryaznov, Nikita Mndoyants, Asiya Korepanova and the celebrated cellist Adrian Daurov.

Tickets for all Eurasia Festival concerts are available at www.eurasiafestival.org or by phone at 646-946-9812. The ticket price of $35 includes admission to the concert and to the intermission receptions
