New York, NY – Chinese pianist Chen Jie will be in recital, performing works by Schubert and Chinese composers on Wednesday, July 26 @ 8:00PM at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, 695 Park Avenue, New York.

Repertoire will be Schubert's Piano Sonata in D major D. 894, as well as four pieces by Chinese composers re-arranged for solo piano by Jie Chen that resemble the cycle of four seasons. The concert is part of the 19th International Keyboard Institute and Festival (IKIF) presented by Hunter College in association with YAMAHA Artist Services.

The program is carefully chosen by Chen Jie to reflect the cycle of life and cycle of time, hence its theme "Cycle". The four movements of the Schubert sonata resemble the life of a man from juvenile, adolescence to old age. Its last movement is a retrospective where an enduring life excursion turns out nothing but sweet memories. The second half, devoting to Chinese music, is a cycle of nature. Each piece corresponds to the one season.

Tickets for the July 26 concert are $20, $200 for a concert pass, and can be purchased through 212-772-4448, or at the Kaye Playhouse Box Office on East 68th Street between Park and Lexington. For more information about this concert, visit www.hunter.cuny.edu/kayeplayhouse
