Choral works by composer Dan Locklair will be presented by Sospiri in a Monday, October 1 concert at Merton College Chapel in Oxford, England.

This event is sponsored by Convivium Records to celebrate the recent release of Locklair’s Gloria (Sacred Choral Works) CD (CD033). The choral ensemble Sospiri will perform the composer’s works from the recording, including, Ubi caritas, Remembrance, Lord Jesus, Think on Me and The Lord Bless You and Keep You.

In addition to Sospiri, there will also be other British musicians involved in the concert, including director Christopher Watson, Malcolm Archer, the organ/trumpet duo Illumina (performing Dan’s work) and choirs of Christ Church, Oxford. Locklair will be in the audience for the concert.

The concert will conclude with the massive 40-voice motet, Spem in Alium, by English Renaissance composer, Thomas Tallis. Due to its size and complexity, performances of this unique choral composition are rarely heard in public performance.

Other repertoire on the program includes new works by David Bednall and Thomas Hewitt-Jones.

The October 1 concert is free and open to the public. For more information, visit https://www.merton.ox.ac.uk/chapel-choir.
