SANTA BARBARA, October 16, 2014— Santa Barbara-based pianist Robert Cassidy will perform a solo recital on Sunday, November 16 at 3 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 305 E. Anapamu, Santa Barbara. The program includes Chopin’s gorgeous Barcarolle in F-sharp Major, Debussy’s Preludes Book II, depicting magical, impressionist scenes, and Schubert’s sublime Sonata in B-flat Major. A free-will offering will be accepted at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission, a non-profit organization providing food, shelter, and recovery programs for the homeless.

Dr. Robert Cassidy has received critical acclaim for his performances and recordings of both solo piano repertoire and chamber music. ClevelandClassical has described Cassidy’s playing as “deft and crystalline.” His piano, violin, and cello ensemble, Almeda Trio (almedatrio.com), is in residence at The Music Settlement, a Cleveland community music school. Almeda Trio performs often in northern Ohio and in national appearances on tour.

Dr. Cassidy has been presented on radio stations WFMT in Chicago (Dame Myra Hess Series), WRUW, WCLV and WCPN in Cleveland, WKSU in Kent, Ohio, and WNYC in New York (“Around New York”). A champion of contemporary composers, Dr. Cassidy has premiered solo piano works by American composers David Noon and Keith Fitch. He has performed chamber music frequently with members of The Cleveland Orchestra.

A extremely active and highly sought-after teacher and chamber music coach, Dr. Cassidy is in demand for master classes, workshops and lectures, private teaching, and adjudication. Recently returning from a September solo recital tour appearing in Cleveland, New York, and Vienna, Austria, Dr. Cassidy has opened a private piano studio at the Music Academy of the West. There is no charge for admission, but a free will offering will be taken, benefiting the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission.

The First United Methodist Church is located at 305 E. Anapamu Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. For more information, please call (805) 963-3579
