Pan American Musical Art Research Presents Homage to Anibal Troilo - A Centenary Celebration – October 7 at Symphony Space Nimoy Thalia Theater

New York, NY – On Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 PM, Pan American Musical Art Research (PAMAR), founded and directed by Polly Ferman, presents Homage to Anibal Troilo – A Centenary Celebration at Symphony Space’s Nimoy Thalia Theater, 2537 Broadway in Manhattan.
The concert will featuring bandoneon master Daniel Binelli, pianist and Shall We Tango founder Polly Ferman, dancers Dardo Galletto and Karina Romero, Colombia’s Quinteto Leopoldo Tango Federico, with Ivan Ovalle and Gina Medina, and others. This will be the opening event of Shall We Tango NYC, an international tango festival from October 7 to 15, with events throughout New York City. This is presented in celebration of PAMAR’s 30th anniversary.

The festival, with dance events produced by Karina Romero and music events produced by Polly Ferman, will also include other performances, milongas and Tango dance lessons at Dardo Galleto Studios, film screenings at the Shabazz Center, theatrical productions and other events. Shall We Tango NYC’s mission is to promote Latin American culture through a series of world-class Tango events at a number of New York City's leading theaters and institution. This year, the Festival we will honor acclaimed Argentinean bandoneon player, composer and musical arranger Anibal Troilo's legacy. The goal of the Shall We Tango NYC festival is to promote Tango, educate people about the diversity of this music and strengthen the community.
Polly Ferman, a concert pianist and a native of Uruguay, founded PAMAR in 1984 to help bring Latin American culture to the United States. "When I first came to New York, I realized how much audiences enjoyed my Latin American repertory, and I realized that I had the chance to either keep that success to myself or help to open doors for other artists from Latin America. I founded PAMAR to help support Latin American artists flourish in North America." Under the umbrella of PAMAR, Ferman has also created Latin American Cultural Week, an annual event held in NYC.
