Repast Baroque Ensemble Presents Latin American Baroque Concerts on May 19 and 20

New York, NY – Repast Baroque Ensemble will be in concert on Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20 - 8:00 PM both days, performing Latin American Baroque, May 19 at First Unitarian Church, 116 Pierrepont Street, Brooklyn Heights and May 20 at Advent Lutheran Church, 2504 Broadway at 93rd St. in Manhattan.
Repast celebrates baroque music of Latin America, with guests Nell Snaidas, soprano, Charles Weaver, baroque guitar, and Theresa Salomon, violin along with Repast members Amelia Roosevelt, violin, Stephanie Corwin, bassoon, Katie Rietman, cello and Gabe Shuford, harpsichord.
Repertoire will include Oygan una Xácarilla by Rafael Antonio Castellanos (1725–1791 - Guatemala Cathedral), Folias - Anon. (Moxos Archivos Bolivia) (Late 18th-Century ), Bayle del Chimo (Trujillo del Peru MS), Lanchas para baylar (Trujillo del Peru), Tonadilla El palomo (Codex Trujillo del Peru), Al Dormir el sol en la cuna del alva by Sebastián Durón (1660–1716), Mariposa by Jose de Orejón y Aparicio (1706–1765) (Lima, Peru), Sonata in F Minor (Madrid, 1757) by Francisco Manalt (ca. 1710–1759), a solo guitar piece by Santiago de Murcia, and Scarlatti’s Fandango for solo harpsichord.

Founded in 2003 in New York City, Repast has performed as part of Miller Theatre’s Bach and the Baroque series and at the Getty Center in Los Angeles; Bargemusic; the Miami Bach Society; the Minneapolis Institute of Arts; Peak Performances, and many other venues. Baruch Performing Arts Center presented Repast in an annual three-concert series from 2004–2016. In 2015 Repast added a new concert venue in Brooklyn Heights, and the 2016–17 season marks the beginning of the group’s new Manhattan venue at Advent Lutheran Church on the Upper West Side. Repast and has been featured on WKCR and Vermont Public radio, and its CD is aired frequently on radio stations nationally. Visit them at http://www.repastbaroque.org/.
