The Orchestre National de France has announced young German conductor (b 1986) Jesko Sirvend as their new ‘Chef Assistant’ with the coming season.

Jesko Sirvend is currently (till the end of this season) Associate Conductor at the Dusseldorf Symphony Orchestra and will take on the position of ‘Chef Assistant’ with the Orchestre National de France starting from September 2017. This position has been specifically created following Jesko’s debut with the orchestra last September, which immediately resulted in several reinvitations during the current season.

Highlights include concerts at the Theatre Antique d’Orange (The Planets), and the opening concert of the Palazzetto Bru Zane Festival with soloists such as Elsa Dreisig, Kate Aldrich, Benjamin Bernheim and Patrick Bolleire.

In the 2016/17 season Jesko Sirvend will give his debut with the Orchestre National de France in Paris and the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra in Sweden. Reinvitations will lead him to the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra with whom Jesko has developed a close relationship over the last couple of years, originally on recommendation by Dimitri Kitaenko. His work as musical director of the “#IGNITION” series of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, which was awarded “European take-off Brand of the year” 2015, will go into its fourth year.

Since 2009 he has been principal conductor of the Akademische Philharmonie Heidelberg, with whom he regularly gives sold-out concerts in the Stadthalle, Heidelberg and was invited to a concert tour to China in September 2013. Jesko has worked several times with the Berner Symphonieorchester, Staatskapelle Halle, Deutsche Radiophilharmonie Saarbrücken-Kaiserslautern, and has been chosen to conduct the Kritische Orchester®, which consists of musicians from the Berliner Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Berlin, Staatskapelle Dresden and other top German orchestras in 2010.

Jesko Sirvend has a close relationship with Mario Venzago, whom he has assisted among others at concerts and CD-productions with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and Malmö Symfoniorkester, as well as tours with the Bundesjugendorchester.

Jesko Sirvend studied under Prof. Michael Luig of the Cologne University of Music and Dance. He has attended master classes with Jorma Panula, Prof. Gunter Kahlert (The Liszt School of Music, Weimar), Prof. Johannes Schlaefli (Zurich University of the Arts) and Prof. Colin Metters (Royal Academy of Music London).
