Rockport Chamber Music Festival presents Paganini Winner In Mo Yang

In Mo Yang, First Prize Winner of the Paganini Violin Competition, performs in the Rockport Chamber Music Festival On Tuesday, June 9 at 7:30 pm, Rockport Music’s 34th Annual Rockport Chamber Music Festival presents the young Korean violinist In Mo Yang, who just won two major international competitions this past year—First Prize at the 2014 CAG Victor Elmaleh Competition and the 2015 Paganini Violin Competition. Nineteen year old Yang started his violin studies at the age of 5 and gave his debut recital at age eleven at the Kumho Prodigy Series in Seoul, which was followed by a concerto debut two years later. Yang graduated from the Korean National Institute for the Gifted in Arts in February 2011 and was admitted into the Korean National University of Arts as a prodigy in music. He currently studies with Miriam Fried at New England Conservatory in Boston, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree as a recipient of the Laurence Lesser Presidential Scholarship. In addition to his aforementioned first prize at the Elmaleh Competition, Yang won second prize in the senior division of the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists held in Austin, Texas. Performing with Yang, is pianist Renana Gutman, who is praised by the New York Sun for playing “with great vigor and aplomb” and for the “true poetry in her phrasing.” She has performed across three continents as an orchestral soloist, recitalist and collaborative artist and won top prize at the Los Angeles Liszt Competition. The concert program is:

All concerts are held at Rockport Music’s Shalin Liu Performance Center celebrating 5 years since the opening of the hall.
