Canta Libre Chamber Ensemble in Concert on March 13 at Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay, New York

Northport, NY - The acclaimed Canta Libre Chamber Ensemble will be in concert, performing music for flute, harp and strings on Friday, March 13 - 6:30 PM at Planting Fields Arboretum, 1395 Planting Fields Rd. in Oyster Bay, NY as part of their Music at the Mansion series.

Repertoire for this event will be Marcel Grandjany’s Rhapsodie and Aria in Classic Style, Handel's Harp Concerto with Grandjany's cadenzas, Jean Cras's Quintette, a new Canta Libre arranged version of Piazzolla's Oblivion, as well as Jean Francaix's Cing Sonates de Donimico Scarlatti, with other pieces TBA.

Performers will be Sally Shorrock, flute, Bradley Bosenbeck, violin, Veronica Salas, viola, Bernard Tamosaitis, cello and Karen Lindquist, harp.

Canta Libre was founded in 2002 by flutist Sally Shorrock to foster the performance and enjoyment of musical literature specifically written for flute, harp and strings. They have been acclaimed by audiences throughout the Northeast and were featured at The American Harp Society 50th Anniversary National Conference. They have appeared at Lincoln Center, on WNYC radio at The Green Space, at The Music Festival of the Hamptons, Bargemusic, Concerts at One at Trinity Church in Manhattan, WLIW TV, National Public Radio of Long Island, and The Brooklyn Public Library and perform regularly in New York City, Connecticut, Westchester and Long Island. Trained at the finest conservatories, many of the members have performed and toured internationally with appearances at major festivals, including Aspen, Spoleto and Tanglewood. Their critically-acclaimed CD of music by Jean Francaix, Joseph Guy Ropartz, Jean Yves Daniel-Lesur and Maurice Ravel is available on the 4Tay label from http://www.jamesarts.com/4tay/.
