Meira Warshauer's Spirals of Light Presented by Aura Nova Ensemble on January 25 at Gordon Center in Owings Mills, Maryland

The Baltimore Premiere of Meira Warshauer’s Spirals of Light for flute, cello and piano will be given by the Aura Nova Ensemble on Sunday, January 25 - 2:00 PM at the Peggy and Yale Gordon Center for the Performing Arts, 3506 Gwynnbrook Avenue in Owings Mills, Maryland, as part of their From Darkness Into Light concert series.

Spirals of Light was commissioned by South Carolina’s Columbia College. It consists of three movements - 1. Slow Whirl Into Stillness, 2. Inner Resonance and 3. Dancing Light. The piece has been recorded and is published by Hildegard.

The performance will also include a reading of Ani Tuzman's poem, Spirals of Light, written as a companion to the trio. The reader will be Randi Benesch, Managing Director of Arts & Culture at the Gordon Center. More about the music and the poem at http://meirawarshauer.com/works/spirals-of-light.

The From Darkness Into Light program will also include performances of Mendelssohn’s D minor Trio, and by works by Paul Ben-Haim and Erwin Schulhoff.

Aura Nova Ensemble performers will be violinist Mark Singer, with cellist Ina-Esther Joost Ben-Sasson, pianist Daniel Weiser, and special guest flutist Anita Thesen.

Meira Warshauer has devoted much of her creative output to Jewish themes and their universal message and her work also reflects a love and concern for the earth. The Navona label has released a CD (NV5842) featuring her Symphony No.1: Living Breathing Earth and Tekeeyah (a call), concerto for shofar, trombone and orchestra with soloist Haim Avitsur.
