Thriving Concert Producer Distinguished Concerts International New York Welcomes Three Exceptional Additions to Program Development & Education Team

A great deal of DCINY’s continued success in presenting quality concerts is due to members of the DCINY Development Team. All members of the team have a music background, and most are currently practicing musicians in their specific field of interest, giving them a most personal way to connect with our incoming performing artists. The Development Team assists in qualifying the artistic integrity of auditioning ensembles, seeking out international composers of significance, and help to shape the programming of the DCINY concert season, with ongoing communication with Guest Conductors, composers and invited ensembles. We are thrilled to add three talented and unique individuals to the DCINY team who represent the best of the musical field.

Dr. James M. Meaders moved to New York in July 2014 to accept a position with DCINY after 16 years on faculty at Mississippi College. Meaders views his transition to DCINY as a continuation and expansion of his work in education. He explains: “DCINY’s emphasis on the transformative power of arts education allows me to expand my realm of influence while broadening my own base of learning.” As Professor and Director of Choral Activities in the Department of Music, Dr. Meaders’ choirs performed multiple invitational performances for conventions of the American Choral Directors Association at the state, divisional, and national level. He led the Mississippi College Singers on four international tours and concerts in such venerable venues as Washington National Cathedral, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. A practicing church musician for more than 25 years, Dr. Meaders has conducted numerous choirs and festival performances. Meaders, in partnership with Michael Dingaan, created The International Center for Collaboration in the Musical Arts, a service learning-based symposium promoting the development of the choral arts of South Africa. Meaders appeared as a guest conductor with DCINY on three occasions, most recently on January 19, 2014 when he conducted the Distinguished Concerts Singers International in the New York premiere of Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest.

A successful composer, Robert Vuichard brings a wealth of experience in business development and concert production to DCINY. In fact, he first learned about the company when his work was performed by the Indiana University Contemporary Vocal Ensemble at a DCINY concert last March: “From the moment I attended the dress rehearsal, I was fascinated with DCINY and knew that there was a greater calling for me within the organization,” says Vuichard. The Rochester native holds a Bachelor's degree in music composition from the University of Michigan as well as a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Hailed by The New York Times as a composer of great "clarity, rhythmic precision, and passion," his music has been performed across North America, Western Europe, and Scandinavia, in venues from Carnegie Hall to Cathédral Notre-Dame de Paris. Mr. Vuichard's music is currently in publication with both Boosey & Hawkes, as part of the Yale Glee Club New Classics Series, and GIA's Westminster Choir College's Choral Series.

A noted singer, as well as an expert in handbells, Neil McDonald also joins the DCINY team. Following voice studies at Westminster Choir College, Neil went on to perform several times as soloist at Carnegie Hall, including the world premiere of John Rutter's Mass of the Children in 2003. “My music training as a soloist and chorister was on the highest level and always left me wanting more after the performances,” says McDonald, “Coming to work with DCINY is a natural way to leave a similar lasting impression on all the musicians who collaborate with us on our concert series.” Neil comes to DCINY following 11 years at Malmark Bellcraftsmen, serving as head of Sales & Marketing for the last four. He is also in demand as a handbell clinician. McDonald is Assistant Director of the Lakeland Regional Chorale & Chamber Singers and founding music instructor for Saturday Stars, a music program serving children with special needs.
