Longy School of Music Announces Program for SeptemberFest 2014 Moving Image
Cambridge, MA: The Longy School of Music of Bard College kicks off the fall season with SeptemberFest 2014: Moving Image featuring dance, improvised music, poetry, animation and scenes from some of the most iconic movies of the 20th century. Over 30 Longy students, faculty, and guest artists will participate in this feast for the senses that will include works by Bach, Bartok and Richard Strauss. All events will be held in Edward M. Pickman Concert Hall on Longy’s Cambridge campus. Admission is free, but reservations are required and can be obtained at: www.longy.edu/septemberfest
“Septemberfest is Longy’s annual jump start to the fall concert season,” said Wayman Chin, Dean of the Conservatory and visionary behind Septemberfest. “This year’s Septemberfest is the most unusual ever. We will explore how music interacts, converges, and converses with the other arts. Every form of art creates an image -- visual, sonic, moving, spoken --- and we hope our programs will offer our audiences a broader artistic experience.”
